Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today expressed confidence that the state’s final electoral roll, to be published after the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), would be accurate, transparent and inclusive.
His remarks came a day after the Election Commission published the draft electoral roll for 2026, retaining over 19.34 lakh electors while excluding 1,58,677 names following the completion of the enumeration phase of the revision exercise.
Speaking after attending the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Phase II Workshop on the Draft Electoral Roll, 2026 at Thambal Shanglen, BJP Manipur State Office, Khemchand described the publication of the draft roll as a significant milestone in ensuring a credible electoral process. The workshop was attended by Rajya Sabha MP and BJP Manipur President Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi, Home Minister K. Govindas Singh, former MP Vinod Sonkar, BJP MLAs, senior party leaders and karyakartas.
In a social media post, the Chief Minister said that more than 19.34 lakh Enumeration Forms had been collected across the state during the revision exercise. He expressed confidence that the Final Electoral Roll, scheduled to be published on September 6, 2026, would uphold the highest standards of transparency, integrity and accuracy.
Khemchand reiterated that the Manipur Government remains committed to extending full support for the conduct of free, fair, peaceful and credible elections, stating that such efforts are essential to strengthening democratic institutions in the state.
The publication of the draft electoral roll follows the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision exercise aimed at updating and verifying the state’s voter database ahead of future elections.
