Chief Minister N. Biren Singh inspected the work progress of the construction of Civil Secretariat located at Mantripukhri, Imphal today. Chief Minister was accompanied by Minister for CAF&PD Karam Shyam, MLA Ksh. Biren, Principal Secretary (Finance) Rakesh Ranjan, Commissioner (Works) R.K. Dinesh, Chief Engineer (PWD) Kh. Temba Singh and others.
Speaking to the media persons, Chief Minister said that there were some disputes between the concerned Department and Contractor which led to the delay over the construction. However the issue has been settled now, he added. Stating that extra labourers have been hired to complete the project, Chief Minister mentioned that the government is planning to inaugurate the Civil Secretariat before the Lok Sabha Election 2019. He stated that he had already instructed the concerned officials and contractors to complete the project on time.
Replying to a question over the installation of traffic light system in Imphal area, Chief Minister said that the government had identified eight places for the installation of traffic light system which was targeted to complete before Manipur Sangai Festival 2018. Traffic light system would be functional in those places shortly, among which 4-5 places will be operational by Sangai Festival, he added.
Earlier, Chief Minister also inspected the construction work of the 13-feet tall bronze statues of Maharaja Nara Singh and Herachandra at the worksite of sculptor B. Banamali Sharma of Khongman Zone 3, Imphal East.
