In a landmark development for the judicial landscape of Chandel district, Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur, Justice K. Somasekar, inaugurated the newly established District and Sessions Court at Chandel on Saturday. The new facility is aimed at ensuring accessible, transparent, and efficient delivery of justice to the people of the region.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Justice A. Bimol and Justice A. Guneshwar Sharma of the High Court of Manipur, along with Anurag Bajpai, IFS, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur, who attended as presidium members.
K. Keertichand Singh, Secretary (Judl), Government of Manipur, delivered the welcome address, while Deputy Commissioner of Chandel, Laishram Nandakumar, extended gratitude to the dignitaries and presented gifts to the guests on the dais.
In his address, Chief Justice Somasekar described the completion of the court building as a “monumental step forward” for Chandel and neighboring areas. He termed the facility a symbol of resilience and commitment to the rule of law, stressing its role in strengthening fair and accessible justice for all communities.
The event was attended by DC Chandel Laishram Nandakumar, SP Chandel Dramendra Kumar, ADC Md. Firoz Khan, Addl. SP (Ops) Ts Chamna, alongside judicial officers, officials, dignitaries, and local residents.
