The BRIC–Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (BRIC-IBSD), Imphal, an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Manipur Technical University (MTU), Takyelpat, to establish a formal framework for academic and scientific collaboration.
The agreement was signed during a ceremony held at BRIC-IBSD, Imphal. Dr. H. Nanaocha Sharma, Director (Additional Charge), signed on behalf of BRIC-IBSD, while Shri Ramananda Nongmeikapam, Registrar, signed on behalf of Manipur Technical University. The event was witnessed by Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur Technical University.
According to the terms of the MoU, research scholars of BRIC-IBSD will be eligible to register for Ph.D. programmes at MTU in accordance with University Grants Commission norms and the university’s regulations. Faculty members of BRIC-IBSD may also be recognised as supervisors or joint supervisors for doctoral research.
The collaboration further allows faculty members and scientists from both institutions to utilise each other’s research facilities, jointly supervise scholars, and undertake collaborative research projects. The institutions may also apply jointly for research funding from national and international agencies.
In addition, the MoU provides for the organisation of joint seminars, colloquia, and academic outreach programmes, along with the exchange of academic and administrative information. Intellectual property generated through collaborative research, including patents and copyrights, will be jointly owned by both institutions.
