Women’s groups staged sit-in at Lairenkabi demanding justice over killings

A sit-in protest was staged today at Lairenkabi, with several women’s organisations demanding justice over the killing of two children and three individuals who were allegedly burnt alive following an attack involving explosives on the night of April 6 and 7.
The protest, held at around 1:00 pm at the Rural Development Club (RDC) Complex in Lairenkabi, was jointly organised by Lambal Apunba Nupi Lup, Lairenkabi Apunba Nupi Lup, Tera Urak Women’s Welfare Association, Lamlongei Sabal Meira Paibi Apunba Lup Chingleima, and Lairenkabi Apunba Lup.
Participants, including mothers from Tronglaobi, gathered in a democratic manner to press for justice and accountability. Speaking at the protest site, Yumnam Sanatombi urged the authorities to deliver justice to the victims and address the matter with seriousness.
The demonstrators strongly condemned the alleged incidents at Tronglaobi and Litangi and called for a concrete and lasting solution to the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
Several civil society leaders attended and addressed the gathering, including AMAWOVA President Y. Kunjarani, Poirei Leinarol General Secretary Th. Apabi, National Research Centre President Th. Ajit, AMUCO Organisation Secretary Laishram Krishnachandra, and COHR Chairman Phulindro Konsam.
Members of the Rural Development Club, AMUCO Assistant Publicity Secretary Kanta Maisnam, Irom Odyssey Mangang, an executive member of AMUCO, and a former Vice President of AMUCO were also present during the protest.
