Imphal, April 21:

The Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) has taken proactive steps to bolster sports engagement among students while ensuring uninterrupted academic progress, announcing the introduction of special examinations tailored for students involved in national and international sports events.
Recognizing the challenge of students missing the High School Leaving Certificate (H.S.L.C.) Examination due to sports commitments, BOSEM has unveiled plans to address this issue by introducing specialized exams designed for such circumstances. Moreover, students representing the state in sports events at the national or international level, encountering attendance issues, will be eligible for attendance shortage condonation, subject to specific criteria.
In a bid to mitigate scheduling conflicts between sports events and academic examinations, BOSEM has outlined a strategy to administer separate special examinations for affected students following the conclusion of the main examinations. This initiative aims to afford students equitable opportunities to excel academically while pursuing their extracurricular passions.
To avail themselves of these provisions, students are encouraged to utilize the Individual Application Form (IAF) accessible on the Board’s official website, emphasizing BOSEM’s commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.
These pioneering initiatives underscore BOSEM’s dedication to nurturing a comprehensive educational environment in line with the principles outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, promoting student-centricity and accommodating diverse needs and interests.
In addition to these measures, BOSEM has also unveiled significant reforms aimed at enhancing the examination process in alignment with NEP 2020 objectives.
NEP 2020 stresses the importance of student-centric assessments with increased flexibility to foster academic improvement. Reflecting this vision, BOSEM has revised its rules and regulations, incorporating new provisions to make examinations more adaptable to students’ requirements.
Starting from 2024, BOSEM will introduce an innovative initiative allowing H.S.L.C. Examination candidates to enhance their performance in up to three subjects in the same year. This initiative aims to empower students to improve their academic standings and pursue their preferred educational paths. Successful H.S.L.C. Examination candidates will have the opportunity to reappear in three or fewer subjects during the months of June or July of the same year.
Furthermore, BOSEM has introduced the concept of the “H.S.L.C Improvement Examination,” enabling candidates who have passed certain subjects but not all in the main H.S.L.C. Examination to reattempt the examination, ensuring continuity in their academic pursuits.
