Imphal, June 30 : IFC and YAS minister Letpao Haokip inaugurated a building of Bank of Baroda at Machi TD block headquarter in Tengnoupal district today.

Chairman of Autonomous District Council, Chandel, Lhukhosie Zou, deputy commissioner of Tengnoupal Kh Raghumani, SP of Chandel Dr S Ibomcha Singh, joint manager of BoB, Imphal Branch, Bimol Singh were the guests of honour.
In his speech, Letpao Haokip said in the present day it has become necessary for every individual to have a bank account. The vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to realize a digital India and cashless transaction would not meet with success if there are no banks and for this very reason the decision to open a bank there was taken, he stated adding that the bank is for the welfare of the villagers and as such they should accept it as their duty the task to safeguard the bank.
The minister said unlike in the past where middlemen walked with a chunk of their money as sort of some service fee for procuring their money, now after the operation of the bank they can directly take out their money themselves.
Korungthang said the opening of the bank is a manifestation of the scheme to establish a bank in every block in the state.
