BJP Manipur Secretary P. Premananda has condemned a controversial post in the Social Media Manipur News Group, which reportedly called for “to finish Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and his close aides.” Terming the post as an “attempt to murder,” he stated that it implied calls to harm the Chief Minister.
Premananda informed the press that BJP Manipur had lodged a police complaint regarding the post, leading to the arrest of the group’s coordinators. While some of those arrested have secured bail, he expressed concern over their subsequent association with the Congress party. “Why is the Congress supporting such individuals? BJP strongly condemns this action,” he remarked.
Acknowledging the ongoing crisis in Manipur, Premananda highlighted the devastating impact of the conflict, which has claimed over 200 lives and displaced tens of thousands. “It is tragic that this conflict happened, but it could have been far worse. We managed to save thousands who might have otherwise lost their lives,” he said.
He urged political parties, civil society organizations, and student and women’s groups to collaborate in finding a resolution. “The solution is yet to be reached, but we must work together. People want unity, and it is crucial for all MLAs, regardless of party, to come together,” Premananda emphasized.
