KSO orders Kukis to leave Senapati immediately amid rising tensions

IT News
Imphal, Dec 27:

The Kuki Students’ Organisation – Sadar Hills (KSO-SH) has issued an advisory urging Kuki individuals to evacuate Senapati District, halt travel to the area for any purpose, and refrain from pursuing further education there. This comes in response to the Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) allegedly failing to honour an agreement reached between the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTu) and the Naga Peoples’ Organization (NPO) on November 21, 2024.
The press release by KSO-SH stated that SDSA volunteers have been detaining Kuki travelers returning home for Christmas and New Year celebrations at Mao Gate since December 23, 2024, despite repeated requests for free passage. The advisory is aimed at ensuring the safety and security of Kuki individuals and will remain in effect until an amicable resolution is reached between the Manipur Nagas of Senapati District and the Kukis of Kangpokpi (Sadar Hills) District.
It may be mentioned that the Senapati Action Committee (SAC), formed following the December 22 incident involving the physical assault of Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) officials at the Gamgiphai Check Post, had issued an ultimatum, urging members of the Kuki community to avoid traveling to or residing in the Senapati district area with immediate effect.
