Beekeeping Training programme launched at Chandel

A basic beekeeping training programme was launched today at Chandel under the Manipur Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) of the Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur, sponsored by the National Bee Board. The programme is being organised by the District Officer, Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Chandel, and will continue for one week.
The inauguration of the week-long training programme was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chandel, Md. Firoj Khan; District Agriculture Officer, Chandel, S. P. Lovejoy; District Officer, Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Chandel, S. Surajkumar; and Agriculture Officer O. Keshikumar.
During the training programme, Subject Matter Specialist for Plant Protection at ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ukhrul, Dr. N. Ajitkumar delivered a session on scientific beekeeping in hill ecosystems, while Subject Matter Specialist for Plant Protection at ICAR, Churachandpur, Dr. N. Johnson spoke on value-added honey bee products for rural entrepreneurship development, serving as resource persons.
25 selected trainees from different villages of Chandel district are participating in the training programme.
