Awareness on the mental health care has become highly necessary these days – Sapam Ranjan

World Mental Health Day, 2023, was observed today under the theme, Mental Health is a Universal Human Right. The observance was held at Hotel Imphal, North AOC. The occasion was jointly organized by the National Mental Health Program, National Health Mission & Directorate of Health Services, Manipur.
Speaking as Chief Guest at the occasion, Health & IPR Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh said that there will be nobody who is without any stress. It has become necessary to cope with one’s stress at the right time. Awareness on mental health care has become highly necessary these days. Tele MANAS Cell has been opened in the state as a step forward in this regard, he informed.
He asserted that we need to create such an atmosphere where all the individuals are mentally fit. One should not hesitate to share his or her stress with others and we need to overcome it timely. Stigma should be kept away. The role played by the State Mental Health team during the state crisis is really appreciable, the Minister added.
Speaking as President on the occasion Commissioner, Health, Government of Manipur, Pradeep Kumar Jha, IAS, asserted that mental education will help during crisis times. Mental health experts and staff have been playing a big role during the crisis days in the state. He supplemented that one should be happy for what he or she does in life. We should learn to live a stress-free life, he added.
A march rally and slogan & painting competition was also organized as a part of the observance. Prizes were also distributed by the dignitaries to the winners of the competitions.
Director, Health Services Manipur, Dr. Kh. Sasheekumar Mangang, State Mission Director, NHM, Manipur, Dr. Somorjit Ningombam, also graced the occasion as Guest of Honor. Officials and staff of the Health Department and NHM, Manipur, officials and staffs of the National Mental Health Program, and others also attended the occasion.
