Awareness on handloom and handicraft held at Khekman

Thoubal,Oct.24: A One Day Awareness programme on Handlooms and Handicrafts Delivery Scheme and MUDRA Scheme was held today at Khekman Mayai Leikai Community hall in Thoubal District.
Speaking on the occasion, General Manager of DIC Thoubal, K. Rohenkumar Singh said MUDRA loan scheme was first launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 8 this year as “Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY)”. Under MUDRA loan scheme, there are three parts which have been named as ‘Shishu’, ‘Kishor’ and ‘Tarun’ to signify the stage of growth or development and funding needs of the beneficiary micro unit or entrepreneur.
Shishu covers loans up to Rs 50,000, Kishor covers above Rs 50,000 to 5 lakh and Tarun covers loans above Rs 5 lakh to 10 lakh.
The loan facilities is for everyone irrespective of their religion, caste or creed, he added.
For development of handloom and handicraft products skill labours are needed, he said. To bring up more skilled labours skill development programme will be organised in wide range for the welfare of the people, Rohenkumar added.
Project Manager (H/L) District Office of Handloom & Textiles, Thoubal, Ch.Tombi Devi and Asst. Director (Weaving) of Weavers Service Centre Imphal, Ch.Randhoni Devi also attended the function as president and guest of honour, respectively.
Ch Tombi Devi Project Manager explained that the one day awareness programme has been organised for the women weavers and to spread awareness about how to easily procure the requisite material like threads and other items for weaving, easy ways to sell the finished products in the market and how to easily procure necessary loans from banks and financial institutions.
The awareness programme was organised by District Office of Handlooms and textiles Thoubal Under the Sponsorship of Directorate of Handlooms & Textiles Govt. of Manipur.
