Apunba Loumi Lup (ALL) highlights plights of farmers

Apunba Loumi Lup, an organization of farmers based in Thoubal District called the attention of the state authorities to the plights of the farmers in the state.  According to a press release, though agricultural activities has been relaxed from the purview of the lockdown, the absence of identifying documents for farmers has caused a hindrance in travelling during the lockdown and expressed their need for the state authorities to make arrangements for issuing some sort of identity documents. The statement also highlights the need for the state authorities to make available fertilizers in time so that the problems faced by the farmers during the previous sowing season are avoided this season. The release also mentions the need for the state authorities to distribute the fertilizers, seedlings, farm equipments etc to every farmer irrespective of their holding valid documents of ownership as most of the poor farmers are unable to prepare proper documents or update the same. The release further appealed to the state government to identify the real farmers so that timely assistance can be availed to make timely and proper application of assistance and produce good crops.
