Ukhrul, June 22:
All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has reaffirmed its unwavering opposition to the controversial Indo-Myanmar border fencing and the unilateral scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR) by the Government of India.
In a press release issued on Saturday, ANSAM declared a five-day total office picketing in all Naga-inhabited hill districts from June 23 to June 27, 2025, calling it a “united people’s movement” in defense of the ancestral Naga homeland and the kinship shared across artificial borders. The resolution follows the Association’s Presidential Council Meeting held on June 16, 2025.
The Association sternly warned that any individual, contractor, transporter, or agency involved in transporting, storing, or facilitating construction materials for the ongoing border fencing project will be held fully accountable for any consequences arising from their actions.
Calling for strict enforcement of the picketing program by all constituent units and subordinate bodies, ANSAM made it clear that any escalation or untoward incident during the protest would be the sole responsibility of the Government of India and the Government of Manipur.
“The imposition of border fencing through the heart of our ancestral domain and the scrapping of FMR is an assault on our identity, unity, and way of life,” ANSAM stated.
The Association has also urged the entire Naga populace to extend full cooperation and solidarity with the ongoing movement to safeguard Naga history, heritage, and human dignity.
