All Manipur Ethnical Socio-Cultural Organisation (AMESCO) organised Advance Eid-ul-Zuha 2026 celebrations at Mayang Imphal Bengoon in Imphal West District and Sora in Kakching District as part of its calendar programme aimed at promoting unity and communal harmony among the indigenous communities of Manipur.
The programme at Mayang Imphal Bengoon was jointly organised with Bengoon Youth Development Association and attended by Chinglemba Wahengbam, Arshad Baseimayum, Moulana Abdus Salam, Chesam Achouba and Md. Jallaluddin Phusam. A similar programme was also held at the Library and Information Centre Hall at Sora Bazar in Kakching District in the presence of several local leaders and community representatives.
During the programme, Loitongbam Ibotombi called upon all communities residing in Manipur to strengthen mutual understanding and work together to prevent divisions and conflicts while promoting peaceful coexistence. Speakers observed that the Meitei Pangal community has historically shared deep social and cultural ties with the Meitei community and has contributed significantly to the development of Manipur.
Arshad Baseimayum stated that AMESCO has been organising various programmes over the years to foster harmony among indigenous communities and to project the collective cultural identity of Manipuris before the world.
Meanwhile, Chinglemba Wahengbam said Manipur, despite being geographically small, is known for its cultural diversity and long tradition of peaceful coexistence among communities. He added that weakening the bond among communities would adversely affect the state’s future and stressed the need to preserve unity and mutual respect.
According to a press statement issued by Moirangcha Nganthoiba, the organisation has been working since 1993 to promote cultural harmony among communities in the state and would continue organising similar programmes in different parts of Manipur in the future.
