A new Road Accident and Disaster Ambulance service was launched today in Bishnupur district, flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam, IAS, who also serves as President of the Indian Red Cross Society, Bishnupur District Branch. The ambulance, an Eco Van, was provided through the MP Local Area Development Fund by Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency MP Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam.
The launching programme was attended by District Branch Chairman Dr. W. Gulapi, Vice Chairman M. Ibemhal, Secretary Dr. H. Romen, Joint Secretaries H. Shyamchand and E. Premjit, Committee Member W. Tollangou, and JRC/YRC coordinators RK Nabakumar, S. Rakesh, and W. Manoj, along with members of the society.
In his address, Dr. W. Gulapi said the ambulance would provide timely assistance in saving lives during emergencies, particularly in road accidents and disasters. He noted that the initiative, supported by Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, reflected the MP’s concern for public welfare and life-saving services. He added that such contributions would play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the people.
The ambulance service will be operated by the Bishnupur District Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society.
