A representative said that at this crucial juncture, it is unfortunate that one person identified as Munindro while talking to media stated that Aimol tribe is not an indigenous tribe of Manipur.
“Aimol tribe are very much indigenous people of Manipur and they don’t belong to either the Kuki or the Naga, even as the Aimol are going together with the Naga”, S. Munthuireng, a representative told the reporters.
He said that there are records of Aimol tribe in the Chietharol Kumpaba (the Chronicles of Manipur) and no person should attempt to drag the AImol tribe into the ongoing conflict. In connection with one RT Akhel who claimed himself as a representative of Aimol, the Union said that he is not related to the AImol tribe and that he is presently associated with the Kuki Inpi Manipur.
