48-hour bandh over Paonam Daneshwar’s Death disrupts normal life in Khurai

Normal life in Khurai has been affected by a 48-hour bandh demanding justice for Paonam Daneshwar, 58, whose death has triggered calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Daneshwar, a resident of Khurai Kongpal Sajor Leikai, reportedly died on October 1 after allegedly consuming insecticide on September 30. He had appeared before the Cyber Crime Police Station on September 29 in connection with a complaint over alleged obscene and derogatory remarks posted against a female elected representative.

Following his death, his wife lodged a complaint at Porompat Police Station, alleging criminal intimidation, harassment and conspiracy against her husband.

The bandh has brought the demand for accountability to the forefront, with residents insisting that the circumstances leading to Daneshwar’s death be investigated fairly and the truth established.

The allegations remain subject to investigation, and the circumstances surrounding his death require independent verification.
