3rd Foundation day of Armed Forces Ex- servicemen Welfare Association (AFESWA), Thoubal was held today at Thoubal Achouba Multipurpose community hall.
Speaking as the Chief Guest of the function Retd Lt. General Konsam Himalay said that only 25 percent will be funded by the State government and the rest will be funded by Central Government in the establishment of Rajya Sainik Board, Jila Sainik Board.
Highlighting the grievances of the ex servicemen as compared to other states he pointed that a meeting of Rajya Sainik Board of Manipur could not be organised till now.
He further said that they will try to hold a meeting at the earliest and also urged the ex servicemen to help by taking responsibilities. He added that their grievances also need to be told to the state government.
Addressing the presidential speech AFESWA’s President AK Debendro said that Welfare schemes of the forces were initiated in various parts of the world for their works and sacrifice of the land and added that most of the states have taken up welfare schemes for the ex servicemen by establishing Rajya Sainik Board and Jila Sainik Board 30 years ago.
Debendro said that it was very unfortunate of the government for not taking up such initiatives for the ex servicemen.
He further stressed that they didn’t want to staged protest and called Bandh as they were based on occupation rooted by discipline.
The function was attended by Retd Lt. General Konsam Himalay, President of Thoubal AFESWA, Retd Wing Commander AK. Devendro, Lt. Colonel of 26 Assam Rifles, Thoubal T. Liang Mung and Post commander of 26 Assam Rifles Yairipok Major Suraj Oinam as the dais member.
