336 trucks escorted for Jiribam amidst UNC bandh

Around 336 empty trucks were escorted by a team of state force led by 2nd IRB CO Jayenta along National High Way 37 for ferrying essential goods from Jiribam amidst UNC sponsored indefinite blockade in Naga Inhabited area. Speaking to a local cable TV, Commanding officer of the 2nd IRB said that road opening team have been deployed from Keithelmanbi to Jiribam to foil any attempt to block the road by UNC supporters.Meanwhile, a meeting of the Naga Civil Society organisation is being convened at Senapati District Head Quarter today. Details of the meeting could not be known, but source said that the meeting deliberated on the issues relating the central government directives to call off the ongoing blockade along the National Highways.The home ministerial  team who is currently taking stock of the situation in Imphal has directed the state government machinery to take up stringent measure for ensuring safety of the transporters. The Union Home Ministry had also assured all possible assistance from the Central government to the state government.
