A 12 years old student was allegedly released after being kidnapped by miscreants today at Kongpal area.The incident took place today morning at around 7.30 am when Khuraijam Kherryna Chanu, d/o. Kh. Kishore Meitei of Kongpal Mutum Leikai was going back home from her daily tuition class as she was feeling sick. While she was walking two unknown men who came in disguise claimed to be Anjana’s (Kherryna’s friend) father and asking for a notebook. They walked with her from Mutum Pooja ground and when reaching near Kongpal Thongkhong she was dragged inside a parked ambulance van. The girl cried and shouted for help. There were two other women in the van who then released the girl near Kongpal Thongkhong near ex-MLA Nandakishore’s residence.Condemning the incident Kongpal Mutum Leikai Nupi Lamjing Lup and Eastern development organisation Kongpal Club staged a sit-in protest at the premise of the club. They demanded to the concerned authority to look into the matter and appealed to not repeat such heinous crime of kidnapping young students in future.
