Imphal, Jan 24:
Sharmila (name changed) is from Senjam near Koutruk (Red Zone of intermittent firing). She is a 36 yr widow, who lost her husband in the Manipur Mayhem in 2023. She is the lone bread earner now in a family of five with aged father & mother-in-laws, a son & a daughter whose education is being supported by the “Wings of Hope”.
She needed further work to earn a livelihood for the family. The Wings of Hope provided the means, support & above all Hope, to start a Mini Poultry farm in her backyard. On 12 Dec 2024, she earnestly began to work on her dream with 300 chicks, their feed, medicines etc purchased from the supplier, with help of an interest free soft loan from our Trust.
Dot on Time – In 45 days, the chicks grew up to become healthy 2.5 kgs fowls, 70 of the chicks having died in the period. The bulk procurer came & picked up the 230 fowls weighing 520 kgs, took them away – “Lock Stock & Barrel”. She was paid the agreed sum for all the 520 kgs worth of table bird. The total amount received, brought about smiles to Sharmila’s stressed face.
“Sharmila” has been able to cope up with her children going to school, tending to the back breaking household chores & yet looking into the dreams and hopes ahead, to get out of despair. She has earned her honest, respectable & fairly comfortable earnings. She dreams of continuing with this journey “From Despair – Dreams & to Hope”. We shall be around to provide the “Wings” to such dreams. What a wonderful flight it has been so far.
With gratitude to all donors & well wishers, who have given us the courage to “Induce Hope to those in anguish”
