Row over the Congress manifesto, but where is the BJP’s manifesto and their inner candidate?

Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister, has stated that it will take another week for the BJP to release its manifesto. The work on the BJP’s manifesto is still ongoing, as the manifesto committee has taken its time to collect feedback from all over the country. While they await their manifesto, their strategy is to critique the Congress manifesto. The entire election campaign machinery of the BJP has sprung up immediately all over the country, attacking the Congress’ manifesto. In Manipur too, the BJP has alleged that the Congress’ phrase “political and administrative settlement satisfactory to all the people of Manipur” in the manifesto hints at Congress’ approval of separate administration.
Congress has clarified that compromise from both sides is necessary and changes have to be made. One administrative issue it mentions regarding north-eastern states is Congress’ desire expressed in the manifesto for properly functioning Autonomous District Councils. Regarding the political settlement, it is essential that the conflict between Kuki and Meitei is driven by divisive politics which some powers have fuelled. So, it is imperative that the level of divisive politics spreading within the communities be contained through political dialogues leading to a political settlement. Since Congress is fielding candidates in the Outer Constituency, which has a large number of Kukis and Meiteis, the party’s manifesto has to address these issues.
However, BJP Manipur can completely ignore it, given that they are not fielding any candidate. Till now, what BJP has talked about as campaigning points are also controversial. Nagas have opposed the scrapping of FMR, and by giving support to NPF, which represents only Naga interests, the question arises: Is BJP committing a blunder? Naming of Naval ships and Mount Manipur in Andaman have only symbolic significance and they amount to nothing much when both the top leaders of the central government refuse to utter a single word on Manipur. Moreover, another question arises here: Will BJP clearly state in its manifesto that they will not support separate administration? It is the Home Minister who blamed the Meiteis as initiators of this violence when he came here? On top of that, he has commented that the ST demand has resulted in this violence, instead of blaming the Kuki narco-terrorist groups who attacked Meitei settlements in Churachandpur on May 3.
BJP does not need to say anything for a week; they will attack Congress, and after that, they will campaign with their positive points. It could be the strategy of the part. But, the most important question is when will the BJP candidate for the inner constituency speak up, and will leaders such as Modi and Amit Shah come here for campaigning? Or does BJP have a new strategy called silent campaigning, where people will be called to the bungalows of the leaders? Nevertheless, the BJP Inner Candidate should say something, or is he too much of a leader that he does not address the masses, and the masses have to go to him.
