Padma Shri Dr. Waikhom Gojen Meitei passes away, Many condole

Members of All Manipur Students Guardians’ Organisation, All Manipur Dalit Development Association, Tombisana High School, Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) and Scheduled Tribes Demand Committee of Manipur (STDCM) condoled the demise of Padma Shri Dr. Waikhom Gojen Meitei, who passed away while undergoing treatment at RIMS Hospital.
AMSGO members observed a two-minute silence at the organisation’s office at Singjamei Sougrakpam Leikai and described his death as an irreparable loss to Manipuri language, script and society. The organisation recalled his lifelong dedication towards the promotion and preservation of indigenous language and script.
Meanwhile, members of the All Manipur Dalit Development Association and Tombisana High School visited the late scholar’s residence at Sekta and shared the grief of the bereaved family.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. T.M. Rajen Ayangba said Dr. Waikhom Gojen had worked tirelessly for the welfare of the Dalit community and played a significant role in strengthening unity among the hill and valley communities of Manipur.
The organisations offered floral tributes and observed a two-minute silence in honour of the departed scholar.
