Imphal, May 7:

In a collaborative effort, the Indian Army and Manipur Police successfully conducted a joint operation leading to the recovery of a significant cache of warlike weapons, including arms, ammunition, and explosives. Additionally, a joint security forces team executed the disposal of firearms seized at the Manipur-Myanmar border.
Acting on specific intelligence indicating the presence of arms and ammunition in the fringe areas of Kangpokpi district, the Indian Army and Manipur Police launched a coordinated operation. On Monday, they recovered one 9 mm carbine, one 9 mm pistol, five grenades, as well as ammunition and other warlike stores.
The recovered items have since been transferred to the Manipur Police for further investigation and handling, according to officials.
Simultaneously, another cache of warlike stores, including a .38 pistol with one magazine and two rounds, 10 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), three 36 HE hand grenades, 85 rounds of carbine, and 10 rounds of AK rifle, was disposed of near the Key Location Point (KLP) post of Assam Rifles at Moreh, along the Manipur-Myanmar border.
These items were originally recovered from a sack concealed under a water tank on the roof of an abandoned building near Elora Hotel in Moreh on March 1, 2024.
Officials disclosed that a joint operation, involving Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) from 5 and 25 Assam Rifles, alongside police personnel, facilitated the recovery of these explosive items. The coordinated effort reflects the commitment of security forces to maintain peace and stability in the region.
