In accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the Research Ethics Board (REB), Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, which mandate periodic training for all members to ensure regulatory compliance and institutional excellence, a training session was organized today under the theme “Conflict of Interest (COI) in Ethical Review” at the Board Room of the REB Office, RIMS, Imphal.
The program was attended by Prof. Kh. Lokeshwar Singh, Medical Superintendent of JNIMS Hospital & Chairman, REB, RIMS, Imphal, Prof. Ch. PritamKumar Singh, Member Secretary, REB RIMS, Imphal, Prof. R.K Lenin Singh, Former Member Secretary, REB, RIMS, Imphal and members of the Research Ethics Board, all committed to strengthening ethical review practices and upholding high standards of research governance.
Prof. Kh. Lokeshwar Singh, Medical Superintendent of JNIMS Hospital and Chairman, REB, RIMS, Imphal, emphasized the importance of ethical research, participant safety, and academic integrity. He appreciated the organizers for promoting awareness on research ethics and encouraged researchers and students to uphold transparency, responsibility, and ethical standards in medical research.
The resource person for the session was Prof. R.K. Lenin Singh, who delivered an expert session on the critical issue of conflict of interest in ethical reviews. The session highlighted the importance of transparency, accountability, and impartiality in the ethical review process to uphold the integrity of biomedical and health research.
The training programme included a comprehensive series of activities such as a pre-test assessment, expert lecture on conflict of interest in ethical reviews, mock review session, post-test assessment, and participant feedback session. Certificates were also distributed to the participants upon completion of the programme.
