Manipur Police has stated that the overall law-and-order situation in the state remained normal during the past 24 hours.
According to an official release, the Governor-in-Council has approved the enhancement of ration money for personnel of the Manipur Police Department. This includes Manipur Rifles, India Reserve Battalion, Civil Police, Manipur Police Telecommunication Organisation, Central Motor Transport Workshop, and Village Defence Force. The revised amount of Rs.2,500 per head per month, up from the existing Rs.2,000, will be effective from September 1, 2025.
Security forces have continued search operations and area domination in vulnerable and fringe areas across districts. On August 20, during a search operation at Sunusiphai Patton under Moirang Police Station in Bishnupur district, security forces recovered one AK-47 rifle with a magazine, one SBBL gun, 15 live ammunition rounds of various calibres, 23 empty cartridges, one smoke grenade, one Baofeng radio set, six bulletproof jackets, and four bulletproof helmets.
The Director General of Police, Rajiv Singh, visited Tengnoupal and Thoubal districts to review the law-and-order situation, interact with officers, and boost the morale of security personnel. In Moreh, he met police and commando personnel at Moreh Police Station and held discussions with local civil society organisations. At Tengnoupal Police Station and District Headquarters, he interacted with personnel and encouraged them to continue efforts in maintaining law and order and combating drugs. He also met officials of Assam Rifles to review security measures, including border fencing. Later in Thoubal district, the DGP held a meeting with senior police officers on case investigations and measures taken against drug-related offences.
In a separate drive against the sale of illicit liquor on August 21, police seized 384 beer cans from the residence of Takhellambam Premjit Singh (29) of Lalambung Takhellambam Leikai under Lamphel Police Station, Imphal West district. The seized liquor and the accused were handed over to the Excise Department.
Traffic enforcement measures also continued. On August 20, one vehicle was detained for violation of traffic rules, and tinted films were removed from six vehicles. On August 21, a total of 35 challans were issued to motor vehicle offenders, amounting to Rs.83,000.
Meanwhile, the movement of 130 vehicles carrying essential items along NH-37 was facilitated with strict security measures and convoy protection in sensitive stretches to ensure free and safe passage. A total of 115 checkpoints were installed in different districts across the hills and valley, during which one person was detained.
The police appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours or false videos circulated on social media. Citizens were advised to verify any such content through the Central Control Room at 9233522822. The public was further cautioned that uploading or circulating fake posts would invite legal consequences. An appeal was also reiterated for the return of looted arms, ammunition, and explosives to the police or nearest security forces at the earliest.
