A grand felicitation ceremony was organised at the Thiyam Youth Club-cum-Library, Nambol Thiyam, to honour promising young footballer Paikhomba Khundrakpam for his outstanding contribution to Minerva Academy FC’s title-winning campaign in the Under-12 category of the Gothia Cup 2026 held in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Paikhomba, who hails from Nambol Thiyam, played a key role in Minerva Academy FC’s impressive triumph in one of the world’s largest international youth football tournaments, bringing pride to both Manipur and the country.
The felicitation programme was attended by club members, local residents, well-wishers and young sportspersons, who congratulated the young footballer by presenting him with traditional honours, gifts and mementoes in recognition of his achievement.
Speakers at the event lauded Paikhomba’s dedication, discipline and sporting talent, describing his success on the international stage as an inspiration for aspiring footballers in Manipur. They said his journey from a small village to winning a prestigious global youth tournament reflects the immense sporting potential of the state’s young athletes.
