Yaipha Thouni event of the Manipuri feature film “Ngamnaba Lanphamse” has been held today at Manipur Press Club’s Loktak Hall in Imphal.
The film, directed by OC Meira, features seven prominent women from Manipur: Dr. Laishram Landhoni, Wahengbam Hemabati, Sobita Mongjam, RK Nirmala, Asem Memcha, Gita Konthoujam (KC Gita), and Sanahanbi Chingarel. These women contributed to the screenplay and production, making the film a unique collaborative effort.
“Ngamnaba Lanphamse,” written by these seven women, marks the first time a film of this nature has been produced in Manipur. OC Meira directed the film, with lyrics also by Meira and production by Leishangthem Sanjit.
The yaipha thouni event featured notable guests, including RK Nongdrenkhomba Meitei, social activist Langpoklakpam Prabunandha, Additional Commissioner T. Robindro Sharma, and Retired Colonel of the Dogra Regiment as the president, chief guest, and guest of honor, respectively.
The film stars Amar, Avi, Jaybidya, RK Hemabati, Ratana, Lalitabi, Sorojini, and Surbala Luwang, with music by Nanao Sagolmang, vocals by P. Rajendro, and makeup by Dabo Wangkheimayum.
Following the film’s yaipha thouni, attendees also enjoyed a screening of the short film “Ishintha,” produced by Leishangthem Sanjit and directed by OC Meira, as well as the Manipuri music video “Charoi Tetu Shu” by P. Rajendro. The film team expressed hope that “Ngamnaba Lanphamse” will resonate with audiences and provide an impactful viewing experience.
