Manipur Bodybuilders shine at Asian Championship

The All Manipur Body Builders Association (AMBBA) accorded a warm reception to its athletes at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal, on their return from the 57th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship 2025 held in Bangkok, Thailand, from August 18 to 25.
The athletes, who represented India in the continental event, brought laurels to Manipur with their impressive performances in various categories. Chongtham Bluncy of OGUST Gym, Checkon, clinched a silver medal in the 75 kg Junior Over category, while Thokchom Sanjeet of World Gym, Yaiskul, bagged a bronze medal in the 55 kg Women’s Bodybuilding category.
Ricky Hawaibam of Royal Gym, Ningthoukhong, secured the 4th position in the 75 kg Junior category. Mayangbam Olenjit of DJ Gym and Fitness, Kakching, finished 5th in the 75 kg Junior Over category, and Leishangtham Kumarjit of MPSC, Imphal, achieved 5th place in the 80 kg Masters (50–60 years) category.
Altogether, the Manipur contingent returned with one silver medal, one bronze medal, one fourth-place finish and two fifth-place finishes, marking yet another proud moment for the state’s bodybuilding fraternity. AMBBA officials, family members and supporters gathered at the airport to felicitate and celebrate the achievements of the athletes.
