Epham Quasar Khanam from Kshetri Awang Leikai has brought laurels to the state by clinching a gold medal in the 64 kg weightlifting category at the 4th Arunachal State Games 2025, held from April 18 to 22. The achievement has been warmly acknowledged by the All Meitei Pangal Students’ Union of Manipur (AMPSUM), which extended heartfelt congratulations to the young athlete.
According to reports, Khanam lifted a total of 163 kg—comprising 73 kg in the snatch and 90 kg in the clean and jerk—securing the first position in her category. She is the daughter of Mohammad Rahman and Akbari Lakizan Shahni of Kshetri Awang Leikai.
In a statement issued by AMPSUM, Vice-President Salman Khurshid praised Khanam’s remarkable performance and dedication. He stated that her achievement not only brought joy and pride to the community but also symbolised the emergence of a new generation of inspiring youth. He added that Quasar Khanam’s success would remain a memorable moment, celebrating both personal excellence and the strength of Ema Leibak’s (Mother Manipur’s) daughters.
