Seven-year-old Aavya Khomdram from Imphal Manipur has emerged as a rising star at the Asian Open School Invitational Meet, held on August 17 and 18, 2024, at the Assumption University Aquatic Center (ABAC) in Suvarnabhumi Campus, Thailand. Competing against a formidable group of athletes, Aavya clinched three gold medals in the 25-meter freestyle, 50-meter freestyle, and the mixed relay 200 freestyle events, making her one of the youngest and most successful competitors at the meet.
Aavya Khomdram is the only daughter of Dr. Khomdram Amarjit Singh and Khomdram Ongbi Bonny Devi from Haobam Marak Irom Leikai. She is currently a Class 2 student at Sanghamitra School, Nizampet, Hyderabad, where she resides with her parents. Aavya Khomdram began her swimming journey at the tender age of four under the guidance of national coach John Siddique at ZION Sports Academy, Bowrampet, Hyderabad.
