The United Meitei Pangal Committee (UPMC) has organized their first oath taking ceremony for the office bearers of the UMPC’s 2024-26 faculty at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul today since its inception in July last year. The 28 executive board members were elected at their Annual General Body Meeting on July 8th 2024 from 32 affiliated/constituent bodies and include Alhajj Moulana Muheiyuddin as President, Raees Ahamed Tampak as General Secretary and Md. Helalludin as Finance Secretary.
In his address, General Secretary Raees Tampak congratulated the elected members and spoke about the importance in recognizing the UMPC as a fully-fledged Meitei Pangal organisation focused on the issues of keeping peace and integrity in the state. He declared the UMPC’s goals of focusing on the eradication of “anti-social elements” like drugs at the grassroots level and connecting the Meitei-Pangal diaspora in other states and regions together, as well as collaborating with well-known institutions on state issues to establish the UMPC as a credible Meitei Pangal organization.
