The United Committee Manipur (UCM) Yairipok Unit convened a meeting today to elect new office bearers and discuss pressing local issues aimed at promoting community unity. The event was attended by UCM President YK Dhiren, Yairipok Unit President Huidrom Noren Meitei, and UCM Secretary General Shanta Nahakpam.
Nangmeirakpam Mani from Yairipok Bishnunaha Mayai Leikai was elected as Chairman, while Laishram Ibotombi from Yairipok Bishnunaha was appointed Vice-Chairman. Mathurbashimayum Anand Sharma of Yairipok Bazar was named Secretary General, and Salam Maipakchao from Yairipok Bishnunaha Mayai Leikai will serve as Secretary Finance.
During the meeting, Shanta Nahakpam emphasized the need for solidarity among community members, urging discussions on critical issues that affect their lives. He called for collective action to improve the socio-political landscape and enhance local development.
YK Dhiren highlighted the significance of the Yairipok area as a strategic route, often referred to as “Mini-Manipur,” and stressed the importance of community engagement in promoting effective development.
The committee also addressed the necessity of fostering a strong work culture, safeguarding rights, and enhancing community exchange programs, encouraging the involvement of local clubs and Meira Paibis to strengthen social cohesion.
