Imphal, Nov 11:
The Association of Healthcare Providers (AHPI) – Manipur Chapter is launching its first AHPI Medical Media Fellowship, a two-month training program aimed at enhancing media professionals’ understanding of the complexities and rewards involved in delivering quality healthcare across the state. This program will run from December 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025, and provides an opportunity for four selected candidates—two from print media and one team from electronic media (a reporter and a cameraman)—to gain deeper expertise in covering medical and healthcare issues.
Open to experienced journalists under 40 years with at least five years of experience, preferably in medical reporting, the fellowship entails a four-hour daily session covering a comprehensive range of topics. Participants will explore the history of medical science in Manipur, healthcare economics, medical tourism, advancements in medical technology, and critical care services in hospitals. Other subjects include biomedical waste management, medicolegal issues, health insurance, public-private partnerships, the effects of climate change on health, and dynamics of the patient-doctor relationship. The curriculum also incorporates cancer awareness, hospital visits, and concepts of spiritual healing and quality assurance.
The application deadline is November 25, 2024, with the review and announcement of results scheduled for November 28, 2024. Prospective applicants must submit their applications to the Acme Fertility and Healthcare Centre, including a professional journalist registration certificate, proof of at least five years of post-registration experience, any prior fellowship experience, samples of previously published healthcare-related articles, and current media affiliation.
