The Sainik School Imphal Alumni Association (SSIAA) has congratulated Colonel Nasim Akhtar, Sena Medal, on his approval for promotion to the rank of Brigadier in the Indian Army, describing the achievement as a proud milestone for the institution.
In a statement, the association said Brigadier-designate Nasim Akhtar has become the fifth alumnus of Sainik School Imphal to attain the rank of Brigadier. An alumnus of Netaji House (Admission No. 998), he joined the school in 1987 before entering the National Defence Academy in 1995. He was commissioned into the Army Service Corps (ASC) in 1999.
The association highlighted that during his distinguished military career, Colonel Akhtar was awarded the Sena Medal for gallantry while attached to an Infantry unit and also received the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card for exemplary service. He has served in the desert and high-altitude sectors, the Headquarters Andaman and Nicobar Command, and completed a two-year tenure in the Kingdom of Bhutan. He also commanded a battalion in both the Western and Eastern sectors before attending the Higher Defence Management Course at Secunderabad.
Currently serving at the Headquarters of the Directorate General Border Roads (DGBR), New Delhi, Colonel Akhtar has now been approved for promotion to the rank of Brigadier.
The SSIAA said the promotion is a matter of immense pride for the Sainik School Imphal fraternity and expressed confidence that Brigadier-designate Akhtar’s achievement would inspire present and future generations of cadets while bringing further laurels to the institution and the nation.
