SILIMPAL demands discussion in Assembly for removal of Assam Rifles

IT News,
Imphal, July 27:

Singjamei to Lilong Meira Paibee Apunba Lup (SILIMPAL) has demanded the removal of Assam Rifles. SILIMPAL has expressed deep concern over the continued ethnic violence instigated by the Kuki community since 2023, which has severely impacted the socio-economic structure of Manipur, particularly affecting the Meitei community.
The organization highlighted the rampant unrest in areas like Churachandpur and Moreh, where communities face threats and intimidation. They emphasized that the presence of the Assam Rifles in these regions has exacerbated the tension, contributing to the community’s vulnerability and insecurity.
SILIMPAL’s statement also addressed the displacement caused by Kuki militants, stating that innocent villagers have been forcibly driven from their homes. They argue that the Assam Rifles’ involvement in these conflicts has only intensified the strife, calling for their immediate withdrawal to restore peace and order.
Furthermore, the organization shed light on the infiltration of immigrants in Kamjong and their alleged protection by the Assam Rifles, demanding strict action by the state forces. SILIMPAL urged the government to take a firm stance in the upcoming assembly session to resolve these issues and ensure the safety and security of all communities in Manipur.
