Rotary Club of Imphal (RID 3240) marked ‘World Menstrual Hygiene Day’ with a visit to the Poirei Nawakon Children Home for Girls in Achanbigei, Imphal East District today, on May 28th, 2024. The event, held under the theme ‘Together for a Period Friendly World,’ aimed to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene and empower adolescent girls.
Maibam Ranita Devi, Community Health Officer at HWC Awang Wabagai, delivered a talk on ‘Menstrual hygiene and adolescent girls’ during the program. Rtn. Dr. LK Saratchandra also spoke on ‘Role of young girls for building a healthy nation.’ As part of the initiative, sanitary pads, sweets, and eatables were distributed to the 34 girls residing in the home.
Additionally, the occasion celebrated the academic achievements of four students from the home who successfully passed the Class X Final Exam’2024 conducted by BOSEM, Manipur. Notably, two of these students, Leisungbam Chanu Panthoi and Hijam Chanu Aruna, studying at Reliance Academy, Luwangsangbam, received support from Rtn Manish Jain and Rtn Yogesh Jain, respectively. The Rotary Club of Imphal has been extending its support to the home for several years.
