The Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) celebrated its 26th foundation day at the JIMPAL conference hall in Babupara, Jiribam district.
The event was graced by the presidium members E Dewan Singh, President, JDO, L. Bimola Devi, President, JIMPAL, Ph Gyanendro Singh, President, UJYL, Y Sumati Devi, President, CADA, and O. Gopen, President, PPANL.
As part of the program, the attendees observed a two-minute silence to honor the martyrs of the ongoing communal conflict and pray for the departed members of JIMPAL who had made significant contributions to the organization.
As an invitee, Th. Somorendro Singh, an Assistant Professor at Jiri College, highlighted the discrepancies between the existing district boundaries of Jiribam and the actual area as per the 2011 census report. He appealed to the JDO to take concrete steps to determine the accurate geographical extent of the district.
Former JDO President L. Romen Singh stated that the organization has played a pivotal role in addressing various issues concerning Jiribam over the years. He added that the areas of Jiribam District in Manipur are reportedly shrinking due to encroachment, with parts of the district being merged into other districts in the state. He also appealed to the official of Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) to take proper documentation and measures to protect the boundaries of Jiribam District.
In the presidential speech E. Dewan Singh, the President of the Jiri Development Organisation stated that regarding the district boundary discrepancies he had discussed with the Deputy Commissioner of Jiribam. According to Singh, the Deputy Commissioner assured him that the district boundary issue would be resolved after the completion of the election process.
On the occasion of the 26th Foundation Day, the Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) of Jiribam district honored media personnel from Jiribam district with gifts.
