The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Students’ Union (RIMSSU) successfully inaugurated the RIMS Annual Meet (RIMSAM) 2025 in a colourful ceremony held at the RIMS Ground, Imphal today. The event marks the commencement of a week-long celebration of sports, cultural and literary activities aimed at fostering camaraderie among students across departments.
The inaugural function was graced by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS Imphal, as the Chief Guest. Prof. S. Ranita Devi, Staff Advisor of RIMSSU, presided over the function as the President. The event also saw the presence of several distinguished guests, including Prof. S. Subhaschandra Singh, Staff Advisor, RIMSSU; Prof. H. Jamuna Devi, Principal, College of Nursing; Prof. B. Praveen Reddy, Principal, Dental College; Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital; and Prof. Th. Meera, Dean (Academic), RIMS.
The inaugural proceedings began with a torch relay that energized the audience, followed by the hoisting of the RIMSAM flag. A disciplined and vibrant march past by contingents from various departments added to the ceremonial grandeur of the event.
In his address, Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma highlighted the importance of fair play, environmental awareness, and community engagement. He lauded the efforts of RIMSSU in organizing the event and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of both students and faculty members. Prof. Sharma further emphasized RIMS’s commitment to maintaining a plastic-free campus and called for collective efforts to promote a healthier environment.
“RIMSAM is not just a festivity, but a platform where talent meets discipline, culture blends with knowledge, and friendships are forged beyond the classrooms,” Prof. Sharma remarked.
The RIMSSU team extended heartfelt thanks to all the dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their valuable support and presence, which contributed to the successful commencement of RIMSAM 2025.
