Relief Committee Manipur has assured full assistance to Tongbram Shitaljit Singh, an Internally Displaced Person (IDP) who secured State Rank 139 in the NEET UG Examination 2025.
Shitaljit, son of Tongbram Ibochouba and Moirangthem Bina Devi from D. Phailel Leimram Leikai, Churachandpur, is presently taking shelter at the SC Girls’ Hostel Relief Camp, Thanga Wangma High School, after being displaced by the ongoing conflict. Despite the challenges of camp life, he excelled in the highly competitive medical entrance examination, bringing pride to the relief camp community.
To honour his achievement, a felicitation programme was jointly organized by Relief Committee Manipur and the SC Girls’ Hostel Relief Camp management committee. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Coordinator of Relief Committee Manipur, Thoidingjam Bonkhurai, announced that the Committee would extend all possible assistance to Shitaljit in pursuing his MBBS course. He also appealed to the people of Manipur to come forward and contribute towards supporting the student’s higher education.
The gathering lauded Shitaljit’s determination and hard work, noting that his success proves students from relief camps can also excel academically if given proper support and encouragement. Community leaders and well-wishers present at the programme pledged their moral and material support to ensure that financial hurdles do not stand in the way of Shitaljit’s medical education.
Shitaljit’s journey from relief camp to medical college has been described as a story of resilience and hope, inspiring displaced students across the State to pursue their dreams despite hardships.
