PWF condoles the demise of Mani Taiyenjam

The Patriotic Writers Forum (PAWF), Manipur, mourns the loss of their esteemed Life Member, Mani Taiyenjam, who passed away on June 6 due to illness. A condolence program was held at Nungshikol Park Chana, Lamlai, with PAWF Vice President P. Biprachand as the chief guest.
The event was attended by notable members including PAWF’s Founder Secretary OC Meira, Secretary Rakesh Naorem, Assistant Secretary Laimujam Pratap Singh, Patron Member Dr. Laishram Landhoni, Executive Member Ranabir Chungkhams, and noted playwright Chana Lukhoi. Additionally, members Dr. Kshetrimayum Subadani, Joyshree Khundrakpam, Chana Lembi, Thangjam Ibemu, Khundrakpam Indira, Thoudam Ruhinikumar, Chongtham Jibanlata, Naorem Romila, and Dolly also participated.
Secretary Rakesh Naorem expressed deep sorrow, stating, “Writer Mani Taiyenjam’s demise will leave a significant void in the field of drama in Manipur. He has written numerous radio plays broadcasted on AIR and authored eight drama books.”
Mani Taiyenjam was born on January 19, 1949, to late Taiyenjam Kullabidhu and late Taiyenjam Ongbi Keinahanbi from Heingang Mayai Leikai. More than 20 of his plays have been broadcast on All India Radio, including Ijatki Thang, Pap, Mapok Amada, Mityengdugi Wangmada, Paokhum Phangkhidraba Wahang, Hiroi Yaodraba Hi, Para Ama, Sibagi Dandi, Kaha Mang Khujai Kai, Watonna Wanglaga Kwakna Phamdekpa, Hingminnasi, Masisu Thabakni, Hangatna Yenglubada, Mana, Lallibasi Kanano, Pupu Ahana Mana, Neihatpiraba Thawaisinggi Wakat, and Kumgi Nongju Lakpa. His teleplay Ningoldi Phouhan Natte was also broadcast on Doordarshan.
His eight drama texts are Hugi Polang, Leichillakta Purnima, Nalini Badan (Best Script, Manipur Junior Jatra Competition 1975), Ashi Oireko Imphal, Ashibana Hallakpada (Best Script, Manipur Junior Jatra Competition 1976), Ingellei, Mapok, Award One Laksh, and Paokhum Phangkhidraba Wahang.
