Nambol, Mar 2:
The Nambol Area Apunba Meira Paibi Lup staged a protest demonstration today under the aegis of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur and the All Manipur Women Voluntary Association (AMWOVA), urging the government to resolve the nearly two-year-long crisis in the state.
Speaking at the protest, Nambol Area Meira Paibi President Maibam Shanti Devi criticized the Indian government for failing to bring a resolution to the ongoing crisis. Instead of finding a solution, she stated, the government should immediately put an end to the raids against village volunteers (Khul Ngakpa).
She further alleged that during this prolonged crisis, the actions of Indian security forces, including the police and central paramilitary forces, have resulted in the deaths of numerous Meitei people and widespread destruction. Additionally, she claimed that indigenous village volunteers have been falsely accused and targeted. She warned that this was not a mere coincidence but a deliberate act, and if village volunteers were suppressed, it would threaten the very survival of the Meitei community.
She also accused the Indian government and the Governor of Manipur of taking systematic steps to weaken the village volunteers through targeted operations, including combing exercises.
