Speaking on the occasion, the presidium members highlighted the sacrifices and contributions made by women, particularly the Ima community, in safeguarding society and promoting social welfare. They also discussed the role of women’s organisations in addressing the challenges facing Manipur, including issues related to drug abuse and the ongoing conflict that has affected the state since May 3, 2023.

The speakers stressed the need for women to work towards preserving the idea of Manipur and fostering unity and understanding among different communities.

As part of the observance, a one-minute silence was observed in memory of those who lost their lives in the ongoing conflict in the state.
