MMWO urges Govt action to resolve Manipur conflict

IT News
Imphal, Aug 8:

Boboi Korimayum, President of the Manipur Meitei Pangal Welfare Organisation (MMWO),in a press release expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict in Manipur, which has lasted for over 14 months and forced more than sixty thousand people into relief camps. Boboi criticized the state government for failing to take meaningful action to assist the internally displaced people (IDPs) and called for immediate efforts to ensure their safe return to their homes.
Boboi highlighted that the internally displaced have been enduring severe hardships, with the government showing little to no initiative to address their plight. He emphasized the need for the government to listen to the voices of those affected, particularly in light of the tragic suicide of an IDP in one of the relief camps.
During the 12th Legislative Assembly session, which began on July 31, displaced persons held a rally to bring attention to their situation. Boboi urged the government to respect the dignity and life of the internally displaced, stressing that their needs and rights must be prioritized.
The MMWO President called on the government to take immediate and concrete steps to resolve the crisis, ensuring that all displaced persons can return home safely and with dignity.
