In a statement issued by S. Mangal, Secretary-in-Charge of Information and Publicity, KCP, the outfit said Malemnganba sacrificed his life while protecting injured revolutionary cadres and moving a bullet-injured KCP/MFL officer to safety.
According to the statement, Malemnganba breathed his last at 11:49 am on August 30 during a confrontation with the Kuki National Army (B), described as a proxy force of Indian security agencies, at the Manipur-Myanmar border. It added that combined revolutionary groups had been engaged in continuous clashes with the KNA(B) in the border region for several days.
The deceased, aged 27, hailed from Awang Wabagai Mamang Leikai in Imphal West district and was the son of late Nongthombam Shyamkeshore Meitei and Nongthombam Ongbi Nongallei Leima.
KCP and its armed wing MFL conveyed their “highest revolutionary salute” to Malemnganba, describing his demise as a great loss to the ongoing movement.
