Imphal, Jan 8:

The Chhabi Sahayog Foundation (CSF), Manipur Prant, in collaboration with Dev Desh Pratisthan, Mumbai, Dr. Mane Medical Center and Research Foundation, and Saidham Cancer Hospital, Shirdi, organized a Cervical Cancer Awareness Workshop on Tuesday at Heirok Part 2, Maning Leikai, in Thoubal District. The event marked Cervical Cancer Awareness Month and aimed to educate the local community about prevention, early detection, and treatment of cervical cancer.
The workshop, attended by around 70 women, healthcare professionals, and community leaders, focused on the importance of regular screenings, HPV vaccination, and early intervention. Dr. Th. Kamala Devi, Head of the Women’s Wing of CSF Manipur Prant and a cancer survivor, led the session. She was joined by Dr. N. Premi Devi, a member of CSF, and Smt. Momoka Salam, Sub Editor of Impact TV, both advocates for cancer awareness.
In her keynote address, Dr. Th. Kamala Devi highlighted the need for continued awareness campaigns and appealed for support from both the government and private sectors. “Cervical cancer is preventable and treatable. Through awareness and access to resources, we aim to empower women to take charge of their health,” she stated. She emphasized the role of such initiatives in reaching underserved areas and called for more workshops that include screening and detection camps.
The event also featured testimonials from cervical cancer survivors, providing inspiration and a personal perspective on the importance of early detection and treatment. Participants received free counseling and information about affordable screening and vaccination services.
Dignitaries present at the event included Ningthoujam Tamphasana Devi, who presided over the program, along with Ningthoujam Maipak Thambalsana as the Chief Guest and Ningthoujam Maipak Devi as the Guest of Honour. N. Prem Singh, Head of the Men’s Wing of CSF Manipur Prant, was also instrumental in organizing the event.
This workshop is part of CSF’s broader campaign, “We Provide Fearlessness,” which seeks to promote health and hope in the fight against cancer among marginalized communities in Manipur. The Foundation expressed its gratitude to local community leaders and volunteers for their support.
Plans are underway to expand similar initiatives across Thoubal district and other parts of Manipur, reinforcing the commitment to raising awareness and providing essential resources for cervical cancer prevention.
