Imphal, Jan 8:
As part of the celebrations for the 32nd Foundation Day of the All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO) on February 12, the organization, in collaboration with Yaima Eye Hospital, Khagempalli Pankha Huidrom Leikai, and local clubs and Meira Paibis, has organized Free Eye Camps with the distribution of spectacles at various locations. The inauguration of the camp was held today at Morok Ingkhol in the Khundrakpam Assembly Constituency in collaboration with the Morok Ingkhol Youth Development Club (MYDC).
Key officials from AMUCO, including President Pheiroijam Nando Luwang, Vice President M.M. Thambou, Secretary (Finance) Momocha Takhellambam, and Executive Member Maibam Premjit (@Thabi), were present at the inaugural event.
During his address, AMUCO President Pheiroijam Nando Luwang emphasized that the Foundation Day aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices and unity among farmers and laborers. Following these goals, the Free Eye Camp will continue to serve the people by providing essential eye care services.
The initiative aims to identify and treat individuals with cataracts and other eye-related issues. Free surgeries will be facilitated by AMUCO and Yaima Eye Hospital for those diagnosed with cataracts during the camp.
Highlighting the importance of eye health, the Nando Luwang said, “Good vision is critical for a healthy life. Eye problems can lead to physical, mental, and emotional strain. We encourage everyone, especially the elderly and homemakers, to get their eyes checked and ensure timely treatment.”
The Free Eye Camp at Morok Ingkhol saw over 120 individuals receiving eye check-ups, with spectacles distributed to those in need. Several participants with cataracts or other eye conditions were advised for further medical care and surgeries.
AMUCO reiterated its commitment to providing accessible healthcare to the underserved and fostering a caring community spirit. Future camps and health initiatives will also be organized in other regions to extend the benefits of this campaign.
