Imphal, Jan 21:
The Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM), in collaboration with PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development), organized a five-day workshop from January 20 to January 24, 2025. The event aimed to advance assessment practices in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The workshop, inaugurated by L. Nandakumar, Director of Education (S), Government of Manipur, focused on the development of Holistic Progress Cards (HPC) and the standardization of question paper templates at the secondary level. This initiative is part of PARAKH’s mission to ensure equivalence across state boards in India.
Over the course of five days, participants engaged in hands-on sessions covering topics such as the creation of assessment rubrics as per HPC, deconstruction of state question papers, assessment design and blueprint creation, question paper analysis and framing of quality questions, and the preparation of model question papers.
The training brought together secondary school teachers from districts across Manipur, guided by experts from PARAKH and NCERT. The workshop emphasized mapping the HPC framework to the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), equipping educators with skills to implement modern, competency-based assessments.
A key highlight was the introduction of a 3×3 rubric-based assessment system featuring three competency levels—basic, proficient, and advanced. This innovative approach is expected to enhance the nuanced and holistic evaluation of students, moving beyond rote learning to project-based and interactive methods.
In his keynote address, Prof. Indrani Bhaduri, CEO of PARAKH, lauded BOSEM’s efforts in aligning its assessment practices with NEP 2020. The workshop was praised for marking a paradigm shift in school education by fostering depth over breadth in curriculum assessment.
