Imphal, Jan 21:

The Coordinating Committee of Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has announced its newly elected office bearers. Khuraijam Athouba has taken over as the new Coordinator. The new executive team, elected during a meeting held in Lamphelpat, Imphal, includes Yumkhaibam Surjitkumar Khuman as Assistant Coordinator for Finance, Laikhuram Jayanta as Assistant Coordinator for Publicity, and Yengkokpam Dhiren as Assistant Coordinator for Organization. Phijam Shyamchand will handle General Administration, while Sanjit Soraisam, Laishram Romesh, Ksh. Romesh, Warepam Second, and Mayengbam Dhananjoy will now serve as Executive Members.
During the announcement, Khuraijam Athouba expressed his gratitude to the outgoing executives, acknowledging their contributions. Khuraijam Athouba stated, “It is a great responsibility for me. My effort is to contribute to Manipur. We have a list of agendas, and we will discuss and pursue them together with the people. This is everybody’s organization, not the organization of any individual. We seek unconditional support from the people.”
Th. Somorendro, the previous coordinator, stated, “Our MLAs are under the center and cannot speak against it. They believe their survival depends on the center. As for the people, our people think we cannot live without the MLAs, and we pay them money to secure jobs.” He also added, “Those who pretend to work for Manipur have all become politicians. Many who claim to love Manipur have come out with weapons, but they are lying.” He highlighted the introduction of new rules and regulations designed to encourage mass participation in COCOMI’s activities, which he believes will strengthen the organization’s connection with the public.
The ceremonial handover of responsibilities included the transfer of key documents to the new office bearers. The newly elected executive team reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the principles of COCOMI and working collaboratively to address the challenges faced by Manipur.
